Ski Mountaineering

Greenland from the air

October 25, 2007

Reiner Stenzel

On a trans-Atlantic flight I was lucky and had clear weather by midday when the plane crossed over the southern part of Greenland. I took pictures of a winter scenery, which we definitely do not see in Southern Califiornia and wanted to share them with other skiers and climbers. Of course, this is expedition country, not SMS trip terrain. Just have fun to watch it! Some day it may be melted away...

It shows the sea with icebergs, the ice shelf near the coast, snow-covered mountains and glaciers.

Please enjoy also Alvin Walter's trip pictures from Iceland from the ground in mid-summer.
